Big day or big rip off?

I'm new to the whole blogging thing - but my tech savvy fiance has convinced me and so here goes!

Like any bride to be, I was really excited by the thought of planning my dream wedding. It was not long before I realised that when you mention the word “wedding” the sales assistant’s eyes light up and everything seems to have a hugely inflated price tag!

Considering the economic downturn, the wedding industry still seems to be lucratively cashing in on brides who feel like they have no option but to spend their hard earned money on trying to achieve the “perfect day.”

High street stores and bridal boutiques alike all seem to have two things in common. The first is that many of the prices are eye watering. The second is the overly nice shop assistant that is desperate to convince you that you look amazing and the item is exactly what you have been looking for, hence she feels the extortionate price can just be over looked. I found this most frustrating because I am in retail and if the products are good, exciting and an affordable price they will sell themselves!

I have two Jewellery shops and I have strived since opening my first branch in 2004 to sell unusual and affordable fashion, silver and gold jewellery. I have always believed that good design and quality should be available for everyone not just the select few.

After trailing up and down the high street and going in many expensive bridal boutiques I decided that I could not be the only bride to feel disillusioned and disheartened by the price and choice of wedding accessories. The tiaras in particular seemed to be silly money and when all said and done you only get to wear it for one day, the prices they want would make me feel as if I should wear it round the supermarket to get my moneys worth!!

I decided to expand my business and sell affordable wedding accessories. I now have a 300sqt showroom above my branch in Lichfield Staffordshire. We stock a fantastic range of tiaras from as little as £10.50, hair slides and combs from £3.75 and a beautiful range of wedding jewellery from £6.00. My wedding showroom also gives brides and grooms the opportunity to come and talk to me in a relaxed setting about commissioned work, e.g. their wedding bands and engagement rings.

I hope that this will excite and encourage brides to believe that is not acceptable for shops to inflate their prices because it is for your “dream wedding.” Believe me when I say “dream wedding, good choice, quality and price really can all be part of your special day.”
